Aldino De Vittorio

Aldino De Vittorio was born in Gallipoli, the city to which he was bound by deep love. Painter, sculptor, writer and poet this multifaceted and versatile artist in each of his works expressed his knowledge of Salento’s historical, artistic and cultural traditions.
And especially of the Gallipoli of fifty years ago that he narrated in his poems and writings of refined lyricism and painted its landscapes and glimpses of a lived experience well imprinted in his memory.
His publications include “Poesie e Acquerelli di Aldino De Vittorio,” published in 1977, in which his art is fully expressed in a combination of dialect poetry and watercolors to “revive” as the author himself says “with greater vigor, what has been and what has remained, in our Gallipoli, and is gradually fading away-the traditions.”
